Dalton Brown Experience:
  • Mr. Brown has the personal experience of attending On-Scene in excess of 3,000 motor vehicle collision scenes. In the past seventeen years he has personally reconstructed and assisted in the reconstruction of approximately 700 collisions.
  • He has lectured across Canada and continues to take relevant courses and seminars involving collision reconstruction in Canada and the United States. To date he has attained in excess of 2,900 hours of collision specific training.
  • He has conducted research in various collision specific areas such as staged collisions, speed analysis, evidence identification and interpretation, visibility, perception and reaction.
  • He has also authored 23 publications in the collision reconstruction field.
  • He has been recognized and qualified as an expert in the field of Accident Reconstruction, Human Factors, Collision Analysis and Interpretation and has been allowed to give opinion evidence on 38 separate occasions.
  • As a member of the Ontario Provincial Police he was designated and held the position as the Lead Collision Reconstructionist for Eastern Ontario for three years and for North Eastern Ontario for seven years as well as being the Unit Commander for the North East Region Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit.
  • He is fully accredited as a collision reconstructionist with the Accreditation Commission for Traffic Accident Reconstruction and is a member of several professional national and international organizations including the Canadian Society of Forensic Science.
  • He has provided investigative expertise and support to various police agencies and investigators across Canada and he has been commended on numerous occasions for his work on collision investigations.

  • Full Certification as a Traffic Accident Reconstructionist by the Accident Commission for Traffic Accident Reconstruction
    ACTAR # 1378, since August 2003.
  • Full member of the Canadian Society of Forensic Science (November 2000 to present) - Section Chair Engineering since 2008.
  • Charter member of the Canadian Association of Traffic Accident Investigators and Reconstructionists. - C.A.T.A.I.R. (1990 - present) and Director Ontario Region (2005 to 2010)
  • Charter member of the National Association of Professional Accident Reconstruction Specialists (United States 1991 to present)
  • Charter member of the Canadian Association of Road Safety Professionals. (1998 to 2008)
  • Charter member of the Professional Society of Forensic Mapping (1998 to present)
